The Greater Victoria School District provides public educational services to over 20,000 students in the Greater Victoria Area, encompassing six municipalities.  To provide this service, the District has a current operating budget of $190 million and employs approximately 3,500 staff; which includes, teachers, principals and vice-principals, support staff, psychologists, speech and language pathologists and exempt managerial staff.

Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology, the Enterprise Desktop Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the District’s enterprise desktop computer environment including patch management, remote control access, application packaging and distribution, operating system deployment, and hardware and software inventory and reporting. The School District is currently using Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), JAMF mobile device management (MDM) and Google Admin Console. Devices include Microsoft’s Windows-based computer systems, Apple iPads, iPhones and Macs and Chromebooks.

Duties include implementing and managing the systems that are responsible for all school district owned devices and escalated technical support for front line technical support staff. Duties also include developing and communicating processes, procedures, controls and policies for managing user devices. He or she will be an integral member of the Enterprise Desktop Team.

The successful candidate must be able to successfully manage change to device configurations; remain current on industry standard technologies and best practices for software distribution and control; strive for continued growth and maturity of technical and soft skills; and understand the District and users’ needs when designing or implementing technology solutions.

Minimum requirements include a B.Sc. or related discipline, MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Administrator or MCSE: Desktop Infrastructure, and four to six years demonstrated experience with enterprise desktop configuration, deployment, and support. Ability to script with PowerShell is required.  Understanding of Windows 10 deployment is preferred. Strong communication and documentation skills are essential.

This is a full-time position which falls within the CUPE 947 Collective Agreement at a pay rate of $37.00 per hour plus benefits.  For a detailed job description, please click here.
