French Immersion

The Greater Victoria School District offers both Early French Immersion and Late French Immersion programs for non-Francophone students. The goal of the French Immersion program is that students will become bilingual in English and French and acquire an understanding and appreciation of Francophone cultures.

Students entering Kindergarten or Grade One can register in Early French Immersion. All learning is in French for the primary years, with English Language Arts introduced as a subject in Grade 3.

Students entering Grade 6 can register in Late French Immersion. No prior knowledge of French is expected or required.

If you have general questions about our French Immersion registration process, please check out our Frequently Asked Questions.
