Applications are invited for the position of Superintendent of Schools/CEO for the Greater Victoria School District # 61. Duties to commence on August 1, 2018 or as mutually agreed.

The Position

Reporting to the Board of Education, the Superintendent is responsible for carrying out the duties as specified in the School Act Sec 22 and Regulations and in Board Policy as amended from time to time.

The Candidate

The board is seeking to build on the strong working relationship and positive directions developed in collaboration with its current Superintendent. Key attributes include: honesty, integrity, transparency, courage, open-mindedness, approachability and visionary leadership.

The ideal candidate will possess successful, broad-based leadership experience, including a minimum of 5 years of successful experience in central office administration and proven success as a school-based administrator.

In addition, the candidate must, at minimum, hold a Master’s degree and qualify for BC teaching certification.

The District

Located in the Garden City of Victoria British Columbia (Population 383,000), the District serves over 20,000 students including 20% in French Immersion, 1500 Indigenous students and 1050 FTE International students.
