Plumber
Temporary Position
(Subject to Internal Staffing Process)
The Greater Victoria School District provides public educational services to over 20,000 students in the Greater Victoria Area, encompassing six municipalities. To provide this service, the District has a current operating budget of $208 million and employs approximately 3,500 staff; which includes, teachers, administrators, support staff, psychologists, speech and language pathologists and exempt managerial staff.
The Greater Victoria School District is currently seeking applications for Plumbers with the following qualifications:
- Grade 12 certificate or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience
- Must possess a Certificate of Apprenticeship in plumbing as issued or recognized by the Province of BC or a Certificate of Trade Qualification in Plumbing as issued or recognized by the Province of BC
- Must possess a Certificate of Qualification to perform the duties of a Class B Gas Fitter as issued by Technical Safety BC. A Class A Gas ticket would be an asset.
- Must possess a valid BC driver’s license
- Must be physically able to perform all duties
- Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders in a leadership role. Stakeholders could include principals, teachers, students, parents, office staff and Facilities staff etc. Maintains a cooperative working relationship with other workers, supervisory and teaching staff, students and the public
- Certification in backflow prevention devices would be an asset
There are two (2) temporary positions and fall within the CUPE 382 Collective Agreement at a pay rate of $32.49 per hour plus 11% in lieu of benefits.
