ACCESS AND SECURITY TECHNICIAN
(Subject to Internal staffing Process)

The Greater Victoria School District #61 is looking to hire an Access and Security Technician for a full-time continuing position.  The Technician maintains, repairs and installs security alarms, access systems and related components for district buildings and portables as assigned.

The Greater Victoria School District provides public educational services to over 20,000 students in the Greater Victoria Area, encompassing six municipalities.  To provide this service, the District has a current operating budget of $208 million and employs approximately 3,500 staff; which includes, teachers, principals and vice-principals, support staff, psychologists, speech and language pathologists and exempt managerial staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a minimum of four (4) years security system installation experience and have working experience with Entra Pass Corporate Software and older Tyco Systems
  • Grade 12 certificate or an equivalent combination or education/training and experience
  • Valid Class 5 British Columbia driver’s license
  • Valid Security System Technician Certificate or equivalent trade qualification as issued or recognized by the Province of BC
  • Standards, practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment used for the construction repair and maintenance of buildings, grounds or equipment in his/her area of expertise
  • Job-related safety regulations and techniques as outlined in the WorkSafe BC regulations
  • Digital technology, including email, online databases and facilities management software
  • Ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship with other workers, supervisory and teaching staff, students and the public
  • Adapt to changing circumstances and the flexibility to adapt plans and schedules to meet these circumstances

This full-time continuing position falls under the CUPE Local 382 Collective Agreement at a pay rate of $33.14 per hour, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
