IRRIGATION TECHNICIAN
Full Time Continuing Position
(Subject to Internal Staffing Process)
The Greater Victoria School District #61 is looking to hire an Irrigation Technician. This is a full time, continuing position working 40 hours per week.
The Greater Victoria School District provides public educational services to over 20,000 students in the Greater Victoria area, encompassing six municipalities. To provide this service, the District has a current operating budget of $208 million and employs approximately 3,500 staff which includes teachers, principals and vice-principals, support staff, psychologists, speech and language pathologists and exempt managerial staff.
Responsible to the Maintenance Manager, through the Grounds Foreman, the Irrigation Technician designs, installs, repairs and maintains underground and overall irrigation systems including PVC piping and fittings, valves, backflow prevention devices, various types of sprinkler heads and irrigation control devices.
Education and Experience:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Level 2 Certification as issued by the IIABC
- Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor certification as issued by the IIABC.
- Low Voltage electrical certification as issued by the Province of British Columbia.
- Valid Class 5 British Columbia Drivers license.
- Two or more years of specific experience working as an irrigation technician on commercial irrigation systems.
- Experience with low voltage wiring.
This position falls within the CUPE 382 Collective Agreement at a pay rate of $25.36 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits package.
