Letter to Spectrum Families – March 10

Dear Families,

Our Spectrum school community was evacuated today as a result of a bomb threat made to the school.  The threat did not target an individual but rather the school as a whole.  As a precaution, police were called and the decision was made to evacuate the school and send students and staff home.

Police conducted a thorough search of the school and the school was deemed safe; the police investigation is ongoing.

School will be open as usual tomorrow and we will be sharing the following script with students tomorrow morning.  Please feel free to share with your child(ren) in advance:

Yesterday a bomb threat was made to Spectrum School. Given the specificity of the threat, police were called and the decision was made to evacuate the school.  Police conducted a thorough search of the school and area and nothing of concern was found.  Police continue to conduct their investigation and if students have any information regarding this threat, they can provide it directly to Spectrum administrators or report it anonymously through the erase reporting tool.

Student safety is always our primary concern and we take threats toward our school seriously.  This news may impact some of you because of other events that may be currently or previously affecting your life.  Support is available to students in the counselling department if required.

Thank you to our school community for the exceptional response to this sudden and necessary safety precaution.
