Foundational Skills Assessment
The Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA) is an annual province-wide assessment of all B.C. students’ academic skills in grades 4 and 7.  It provides parents, teachers, schools, School Districts and the Ministry of Education with information on how students are progressing in the foundation skills of Reading, Writing, and Numeracy.

The Board is directing the Chair to write a letter to the Minister of Education expressing concerns over how the FSA exams are administered, how the results are reported out, and how findings are used to rank and compare schools across the province. As well, Trustees are asking for an evaluation of the current FSA’s for better alignment with the new curriculum.
