GREATER VICTORIA BOARD OF EDUCATION RATIFIES CUPE LOCAL 382 COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT

The Board of Education of School District No. 61 (Greater Victoria) and CUPE Local 382 are pleased to announce the ratification of a new five-year Collective Agreement effective July 1, 2014. The British Columbia Public School Employers’ Association (BCPSEA) and the K-12 Presidents’ Council representing support staff unions in the public education sector met in June and reached a five year Provincial Framework Agreement

that includes a 5.5% wage increase. The current Collective Agreement will be rolled over and will include the insertion of the new Provincial Framework Agreement.

“Members of CUPE Local 382 provide tremendous operational support to education within schools in our District. The Board of Education thanks the membership for their hard work and ongoing commitment to education” said Peg Orcherton School District No. 61 Board Chairperson. Peg went on to say, “Our Board is  pleased to ratify a collective agreement with CUPE Local 382 and their membership that provides certainty and fosters a mechanism for a continued positive labour relations climate with this local.”

CUPE Local 382 President Gilles Larose stated that “CUPE Local 382 is very pleased to have ratified a five year collective agreement with the Board of Education. Our members voted 91.5% in favour of ratification and look forward to continuing our excellent relationship with the District. Our members take pride in supporting a safe and secure learning and working environment.”
