PAINTER
Continuing Position
(Subject to Internal Staffing Process)
The Greater Victoria School District #61 is looking to hire a Painter for the Capital Division in the School District’s Facilities Department. This is a continuing position working 40 hours per week.
The Greater Victoria School District provides public educational services to over 20,000 students in the Greater Victoria area, encompassing six municipalities. To provide this service, the District has a current operating budget of $210 million and employs approximately 3,500 staff which includes teachers, principals and vice-principals, support staff, psychologists, speech and language pathologists and exempt managerial staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a minimum of 8100 hours years of recent, consecutive and full time painting experience within a residential / commercial / institutional setting
- Employee must apply to ITBCA within the first 60 days of employment to have a previous work experience approved to challenge Red Seal Trade Qualification
- Employee must successfully challenge Red Seal Painter and Decorator Red Seal process within one (1) year of employment
- Must possess a demonstrated knowledge of Sign Fabrication, including mathematical, spelling and reading comprehension skills as related to work assignments; basic computer knowledge and artistic aptitude
- Must possess a demonstrated knowledge of the standards, practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment in his/her area of expertise
- Must possess a valid BC driver’s license
- Proven ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship with other workers, supervisory and teaching staff, students and the public
- Must have working knowledge of digital technology; including email and online databases
- Must be physically able to perform all duties as noted in the Job Description
This continuing position falls under the CUPE 382 Collective Agreement at a pay rate of $36.86 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits package upon successful completion of probation. Hours are 6:30am -3pm.
