Approved Motion: That the Board of Education of School District No. 61 (Greater Victoria) approve the 2021-2022 Audit Planning Report as presented to the Audit Committee.

Action: The 2021-2022 Audit Planning Report was approved and accepted by the Board.


Approved Motion: That the Board of Education of School District No. 61 (Greater Victoria) accept the March 2022 Quarterly Financial Report as presented to the Audit Committee.

Action: The March 2022 Quarterly Financial Report was accepted by the Board.


Approved Motion: That the Board of Education of School District No. 61 (Greater Victoria) receive the Interim Superintendent's report as presented.

Action: The Board voted in favour of receiving the Interim Superintendent's Report.


Approved Motion: That the Board of Education of School District No. 61 (Greater Victoria) approve the 2022-2023 Board of Education and Standing Committee meeting dates.

Action: The Board voted in favour of approving the 2022-2023 Board of Education and Standing Committee meeting dates and they have been posted on District website.


Approved Motion: That the Board of Education of School District No. 61 (Greater Victoria) accept the one-time funding of $208,817 from Advocacy for Music in Schools (AMIS) to provide a barrier-free opportunity to the estimated 1,503 grade five students in the 28 elementary schools to participate in a strings program to be offered inside or outside of the school day, as determined by each Principal in consultation with their respective Staff Committee and the School’s parent Advisory Council. AND FURTHER; That the Board of Education of School District No. 61 (Greater Victoria) direct the Superintendent to complete a review of the Elementary Strings Program during the 2022-2023 school year and to complete a report with recommendations to present to the Education Policy and Directions Committee meeting in January 2023.

Action: The Board voted in favour of accept the one-time funding from AMIS and the Superintendent will begin a review of the Elementary Strings Program for the 2022-2023 school year.

Approved Motion: That the Board of Education of School District No. 61 (Greater Victoria) approve the expenditure of up to $250,000 from Local Capital Reserve to create classroom space for a new 2022-2023 division at Shoreline Middle School.

Approved Motion: That the Board of Education of School District No. 61 (Greater Victoria) approve the Terms of Reference for the Urban Peoples House Indigenous Advisory (UPHIA), as presented.

Action: The Board voted in favour to approve the Terms of Reference as presented.


Approved Motion: That the Board of Education of School District No. 61 (Greater Victoria) direct the Interim Superintendent to meet with members of the Greater Victoria Teachers’ Association to discuss the appropriate use of fossil fuel industry-sponsored educational materials, including those produced by Fortis BC, in the Greater Victoria School District.

Action: The Superintendent will meet with members of the GVTA to discuss.
