The Greater Victoria School District is aware that Trustee Angela Carmichael has been charged with committing common assault on February 7th in Victoria.
Given that this charge involves circumstances unrelated to her role and activities as a Trustee, the Board has limited knowledge of the circumstances arising that led to this charge.
Trustee Carmichael has requested, and effectively immediately, is on a leave of absence until further notice while she takes the time to address this matter. During the period of her leave, Trustee Carmichael will not be attending at Greater Victoria School District schools in her capacity as a Trustee, and she will not be attending any Board and Committee meetings, nor other events planned for Trustees.
The School District’s actions in this matter will be governed by the provisions of the School Act.
Given that this matter is currently before the Courts, the School District will not be commenting further on this matter.
