School Re-Opening Plans to Welcome Students to the 2020-2021 Year

Greater Victoria School District will welcome students back to school in September with the guidance of the Ministry of Education and the Provincial Health Office.

Keeping safety at top of mind the Ministry of Education is making a $45.6 million investment in enhanced cleaning protocols through additional staffing and supplies, among other health and safety measures.

“With BC’s continued success in COVID-19 containment, and what we have heard from our learning community over the last few months, we are excited to have the guidance to move forward in having students back in our classrooms this Fall,” shared Board Chair Jordan Watters. “We know how important face to face connections are for our students’ learning and for their social and emotional wellness, and we look forward to supporting those connections in a safe way.”

Superintendent of Schools Shelley Green adds, “With the announcement today, our school district can now refine its plans for a Stage 2 return to school for all students.  We will be reaching out to our partner groups early in August to continue the consultation process as we navigate returning to school in stage 2.  We will provide on-going communication for our students and families as we get closer to September and are looking forward to having our students back in school.”
