It’s that time of the year when parents register their children for kindergarten or start planning for the transition to middle and high school. Here are a few important dates to note.

Early French Immersion and English Kindergarten Registration

The Early French Immersion registration is now completed. Applications were accepted until January 13, 2017. Families will be notified of program placement by Friday, January 20, 2017.

Registration for English Kindergarten occurs January 23-27, 2017. A Kindergarten information night will occur at S.J. Willis Auditorium on January 18, 2017, from 6:30-8:30 pm.

The Greater Victoria School District offers English Kindergarten at all 27 elementary schools and Early French Immersion at nine of our elementary schools. To enroll in either program, parents can visit their catchment school between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.  Bring proof of child’s age and citizenship status; this can be a birth certificate, passport, landed immigrant authorization.  Proof of address and your child’s BC Medical Care Card are also required.

Should parents want to request a school for kindergarten other than their catchment school, they can apply to transfer.  Parents will need to request a Kindergarten transfer form at their catchment school. Once completed, forms need to be dropped off at the Tolmie Board Office, 556 Boleskine Road by 4 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2017.

For families with children transitioning to middle school or high school, a number of student parent information sessions are planned.
