The Greater Victoria School District is hosting an open house on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Sundance-Bank Elementary School to gather feedback on proposed options for the school’s expansion and seismic upgrade project. All members of the community are welcome to drop-in and share their input on future site developments between 4:00pm and 7:00pm.
Attendees will be invited to indicate which of three proposed options they prefer—all of which include an increase in capacity to 10 classrooms (240 capacity), a Neighbourhood Learning Centre, and on-site child care. Attendees will also help prioritize features for the Neighbourhood Learning Centre. Staff will be present to answer questions.
The expansion project is being driven by multiple factors including increasing enrolment projections. Additionally, both the existing Sundance-Bank Elementary School (built in 1967) and the currently closed Bank Street School (built in 1910) have critical Facility Condition Index (FCI) levels and seismic rankings of H1, the highest level of seismic risk.
For those unable to attend in person, an online survey will be available to collect feedback, opening on August 7, 2024 at 7:00am and closing August 31, 2024 at 11:45pm (extended deadline).
