Career fair opens doors of possibility for Greater Victoria students

The Greater Victoria School District is hosting its seventh annual district-wide Career Fair at the Archie Browning Curling Arena tomorrow. Each year, the event provides students with an opportunity to connect their skills and passions with various professional pathways.

More than 90 exhibitors will be present, representing industries such as tourism, hospitality, health, sport and recreation, business, travel, trades, technology, media, art and design, and government services to offer students in grades 9-12 information about potential career avenues. Throughout the day, representatives from local businesses, organizations, and post-secondary institutions will also be on hand to speak with youth about their career paths and the training required.

“By giving students a window into the career options that lay ahead of them, we can help them connect their interests and passions with real-life opportunities,” shared Board Chair Jordan Watters. “We are proud to be able to support our students in understanding all the options available to them and developing the plans and strategies which will enable them to reach their career goals.”

Last year, more than 1,500 students participated.  All students, parents and staff are invited to attend. The invitation is also extended to the media.
