Board Meeting Highlights – February 2020

Community Presentations
A student from Central Middle School presented to the Board sharing her perspective on the urgency of climate change and the dire need to take action to prevent serious consequences for the planet. The President from the Victoria Confederation Parent Advisory Council (VCPAC) also presented, articulating the importance of inclusion, engagement, and parent and student voice in moving forward with positive change.

Feedback for 2020/2021 Proposed School Calendar
The Board approved the proposed 2020/2021 school calendar to be published for public input.

The District school calendar highlights non-instructional days, vacation breaks, school openings and last day of classes. To review the proposed calendar for the upcoming school year visit: www.sd61.bc.ca/news-events/calendars/proposed-2020-2021-school-calendar/

All feedback is to be submitted via email to community@sd61.bc.ca

The deadline to submit input is Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at 4 p.m.

Health & Safety Reporting
The Board directed the Superintendent to provide annual reports on both student and staff safety. The report would outline how the District is operationalizing health and safety in the District and provide recommendations for any improvements.
