Board Meeting Highlights – March 29, 2021

Craigflower/Shoreline Public Consultation
The Board suspended the public consultation process seeking input on seismic options for Craigflower Elementary and Shoreline Middle schools, which included the potential closure of Craigflower Elementary. The Board has directed the Superintendent to meet with the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations to discuss how they would like to proceed.

Preliminary Budget 2021-2022
The Secretary-Treasurer presented the preliminary 2021-2022 school year budget. Draft 2 of the budget indicates the Board continues to have a shortfall of $7.1m. Lansdowne Land Disposal Public Engagement
The Board approved a public engagement plan to consult on the disposal of 7.3 acres of the 25 acres at the Lansdowne Middle School site. The District and Conseil scolaire francophone (CSF) School District are pursuing a land transfer. The sale of the property is pending public consultation by the Greater Victoria School District. If approved, the CSF intends to use the land for a permanent location for l’École Beausoleil.
