New Chair and Vice-Chair for Greater Victoria School District

VICTORIA, BC – Greater Victoria School District acclaimed Ann Whiteaker as the new Chairperson of the
Board of Education and Rob Paynter as the new Vice-Chair at its Special Board meeting Monday, August
9th, after the resignations of former Chair Watters and Vice-Chair Leonard.

In her new role as Chair in School District 61, Chair Whiteaker conveys “We will continue to move
forward taking lessons from the past year to collaboratively and collectively support students and staff –
always striving to encourage a joy of lifelong learning and a positive sense of self for every student.”

Interim Superintendent of Schools Deb Whitten adds, “Congratulations to Chair Whiteaker and Vice-
Chair Paynter and special thanks to former Chair Watters and Vice-Chair Leonard. In this time of
transition we are looking forward to advancing the Board’s strategic plan and continuing meaningful
opportunities for student success in our work together.”
