Board of Education to Consider Draft Budget for 2018-2019 School Year
VICTORIA, BC – The proposed operating budget will be shared tomorrow at a Special Budget Meeting at 7 p.m. at the Tolmie Board Office. All members of the public are welcome to attend.
The Greater Victoria School District prepares a budget for the upcoming school year each spring. Over the month of April, several meetings will take place to determine the budget for the 2018-2019 school year. The meetings will outline how funds are allocated and invested in the upcoming year to support students and staff while delivering on the School District’s objectives.
“In the coming weeks, the draft operating budget will be shared broadly,” noted Board Chair, Edith Loring-Kuhanga. “We hope to hear from our community about what they value in our world-class education system.”
In the fall, the School District sought budget input from our educational partners and Parent Advisory Councils. The public will have several opportunities to provide feedback on the 2018-2019 Budget prior to its final consideration on the evening of Wednesday, April 25th:
- Special Budget Meeting – Thursday, April 12, 2018, 7 p.m.
- Operations Policy and Planning (OPPS) Committee Meeting – Monday, April 16, 2018, 7 p.m.
- Special Budget Meeting – Wednesday, April 25, 2018, 7 p.m., or
- In writing to community@sd61.bc.ca
All information will be compiled and shared with the Board of Education. For more details on the proposed budget please visit: www.sd61.bc.ca/wp-content/uploads/sites/91/2018/04/18-19-Budget-Process-Presentation.pdf
