Spectrum Community School Turf Project

Spectrum Community School Turf Project

In July 2025, the Greater Victoria School District shared that the project to construct a new all-weather turf field with lighting at Spectrum Community School was nearing the fundraising finish line and in November 2025, the District announced that it would be moving forward with the construction phase of the project.

“Contributions, including a generous $2 million anonymous donation, and strong advocacy from the school community over the past eight years have been key to the success of fundraising for this project,” says Katrina Stride, Secretary Treasurer, Greater Victoria School District. “Without community support and generous donations, we wouldn’t be able to move this project into the construction phase.”

In addition to the $2 million anonymous donation, inspiring commitments that have been made toward construction costs include $300,000 from the District of Saanich and $20,000 from Peninsula Co-op.

During the rainy season, the school’s existing uneven grass fields have been deemed unusable due to drainage issues that cause flooding and muddy surfaces.

“I’m so thankful for our school community throughout the funding process for this project,” says Aaron Norris, Principal, Spectrum Community School. “The continued support has been motivating and we are very much looking forward to using a new turf field on which our students can play and host various sporting and community events.”

The Greater Victoria School District extends sincere gratitude to those who have given in any capacity to support this project.
