Community Update – Oak Bay High Incident – (Nov. 30, 2022, 3:30 pm)

UPDATE – November 30, 2022, at 3:30 p.m. 

School administrators contacted police after discovering a threatening message on a bathroom door stall at approximately 10:30 a.m. The message indicated that an individual was going to bring a gun to the school and that there would be a school shooting at 2:00 p.m.

Investigators attended and initiated an investigation. Out of caution, students and staff were dismissed early from school. In addition, all classes, practices, and scheduled events were cancelled for the rest of the day.

This incident is an ongoing investigation. Police have informed us that there is no evidence of anyone having a firearm at the school, and students can return to school tomorrow. Classes will resume as usual.

Oak Bay Police – Respond to Threat at Oak Bay High School


A threat has been made at Oak Bay High School. Under police advisement, students and staff will be released early as police conduct their investigation.

Student and staff safety continues to be our top priority.

Out of an abundance of caution, Oak Bay High will be dismissing students at 1:00 p.m. today. All classes, practices and scheduled events are cancelled for the rest of the day.

We will be providing updates as more information becomes available. We anticipate we will be back in school tomorrow as normal.

We ask that Oak Bay High families check their email. The school is contacting parents/caregivers now.
