Augmentative Communication and Adaptive Technology Assistant

To provide support to students who require alternative communication supports, in consultation with SLPs and LSTs

Direct requests from SLPS and from LSTs (with SLP awareness)

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE:
- Works with teachers, EAs, and SLPS, in the integration of visual supports and Augmentative Communication
- Adapts, installs and provides on-going technical support of Augmentative Communication devices, specialized equipment and access adaptations, to assist students with communication.
- Provides both formal (workshops) and informal (individual) training to staff in the use of Augmentative Communication equipment, adapted technology, software, visual supports and other related technology
- Liaises with e-technicians, schools technicians, and SET-BC staff, when equipment is not working correctly
- Maintains the operation of Specialized Equipment Loan Library
