More than 400 students in Grades 4-8 showcased their Inquiry Learning Research Projects at the Royal BC Museum today after floating classroom experience with Eagle Wing Whale Watching Tours.
The Salish Sea initiative is designed to incorporate the curriculum while connecting students to place through experimental learning. Students completed classroom, shoreline, and on-water activities to examine the history, culture and the environment of the watershed.
Following the inquiry-based learning model, students then took their experiences back to the classroom and proposed bigger questions about the Salish Sea. Their questions and findings were then turned into projects that were put on display at an open house at the Royal BC Museum.
It was exciting to have Jordan Watters, School Trustee SD61, Rob Fleming, Lana Popham, Industry Training Authority and our other partners come together today and celebrate the renewal of our middle and secondary school shops. Together, we are putting safer and new tools into the hands of students to help them succeed in trades.
Thank you to all the representatives, staff and students who participated. As well, a special shout out to the students who created the metal banner.
