Public schools are the foundation of our democracy. I seek a third term as School Trustee to develop and defend this vital public good by initiating and supporting progressive policy. My 2012 motion to record Trustee votes increased accountability to you. My work brought student representatives to the Board. A new funding formula will bring a need for close watch on equity of opportunity and support for all students, particularly those with special needs. I am committed to increasing Indigenous student success, and to making our schools safe and welcoming for all students and families. Although some say Trustees’ primary loyalty is to the Board, my primary loyalty is to students and the community. I’m a former SD61 teacher (22 years) and former CUPE Education Assistant. I am dedicated to providing all students with an opportunity to fulfill their potential and to pursue their aspirations in an excellent public school system.
