Vice-Principal of Information Technology

The Greater Victoria School District provides public educational services to over 20,000 students in the Greater Victoria Area, encompassing six municipalities.  To provide this service, the District has a current operating budget of $190 million and employs approximately 3,000 staff; which includes, teachers, principals and vice-principals, support staff, psychologists, speech and language pathologists and exempt managerial staff.

With the development and implementation of the Greater Victoria School District Strategic Plan, the new curriculum and the Technology for Learning Plan, strong alignment from the Information Technology department in supporting teaching and learning in the classroom is essential in order to move the learning environment forward.

The Greater Victoria School District is looking to hire a Vice-Principal of Information Technology that will report to the Director of Information Technology and join the IT management team in leading the use and support of technology throughout the School District.

This role oversees the implementation and support of the School District’s Student Information System and related student and classroom software systems, including FreshGrade, CSL, planning software and leading and directing the team that supports these systems. This includes the ongoing data collection and reporting requirements which provides analytical information to senior management and other district stakeholders to support effective decision making.

The Vice-Principal of Information Technology is accountable for leading the IT support team in supporting users with technology throughout the school district and supporting the Technology for Learning Plan. This role also works closely with the software development team in the support and creation of software applications that support students.

The Vice-Principal of Information Technology position is for a term of five years and is compensated at the Secondary Vice-Principal salary level. Close alignment with the Learning Team and other programs and departments supporting students is essential for this position.
