We
welcome photos, stories, announcements relating to the
Vic High R&B Band -- they document the progress
of the band and important events of the year. Periodically
they can be used to promote the band in posters, websites
and brochures. Anyone can send photos for posting on
the site. Here's how to do it:
Photos:
Email
your photos to gds@islandnet.com.
Try to keep your emails to under 5 mb each. My mailbox
will fill up after about 10 mb, and so you may get
an error message. If that happens try again later,
after I have emptied the mailbox.
Alternately,
you can also post your photos on a photo sharing
site, such as Shaw Photo Share. I can download them
from there. This works as long as you send me the
URL, and avoid using a password to view the photos.
You
do not need to reduce the resolution of the photos
you send -- I do that automatically for the web.
But if you wish to (say to send more images in an
email), downsample them to 550 x 413 pixels.
IMPORTANT:
Retain a high-resolution copy of each of your photos.
I usually reduce the resolution of photos you email.
These low-resolution images are okay for the web,
but are not high enough resolution for printing
or promotion. Please keep a high-resolution copy
of your photos on hand.
File
naming: Do not use the student's names for filenames.
We avoid using student's names with their photos
in order to maintain their privacy. Also, do not
use symbols or odd characters in the filenames.
Keep filenames short.
Try
to edit your photos down to the best or most representative
of the bunch.

Announcements, Corrections and other Material

Your material can come as an email or attachment,
such as Word document or PDF file. Announcements for
the band will be posted on the homepage. Stories and
other material may be given their own page in the
website. We reserve the right to edit any stories
posted to the web. All submitted material must have
contact information.
