Quadra Elementary Music Program
At Quadra School, we have a strong Fine Arts program. All students from Kindergarten to Grade 5 receive 92 minutes of music/dance
instruction per week with our specialist teachers. Quadra also offers a strings program for interested students in Grade 5 which is taught by a
district specialist teacher. Strings students receive two hours of instruction per week. The general music
program focuses on the development of in-tune singing, music literacy and composition skills. Intermediate
students also learn to play the recorder and ukulele as part of the regular music curriculum. There are
several extra-curricular groups including Strings, Ukulele Club and Choir which happen throughout the year. The music program at Quadra
is an integral part of our school culture.

Quadra School Choir Update
Choir rehearsals are taking place on Tuesday mornings at 8am in the music room. Grade 2 students who demonstrate commitment to rehearsals and excellent focus are now invited to join the Quadra Choir for the remainder of the year. Interested Grade 3,4,5 students are also encouraged to join us. Regular attendance is extremely important. The choir students did a fabulous job singing at Saanich Municipal Hall and in the Quadra Intermediate Concert. Please check the "Choir" page for some sound clips from our most recent concert.
Quadra School Strings
String students meet every Wednesday and Thursday after school from 3-4pm. Before the winter holidays,students enjoyed participating in the District Strings Concert and our Intermediate Concert. We are looking forward to more performances in 2012.
Extra Help
Intermediate students are invited and encouraged to come to the music room during the short recess on Fridays for extra strings/ukulele practice or help. A special time for extra help can also be arranged. Any Primary students who wish to play instruments in the music room are also invited on Fridays during the short recess.
