WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL
At École Margaret Jenkins School students, staff and parents work toward mutually respectful relationships. It is recognized that the involvement of all parties is necessary for the students' achievement of maximum potential. Our school is a vibrant, friendly place with both English and French Immersion tracks. All our English track students learn some French as a part of the curriculum and also get an enriched atmosphere as a part of a dual track school. French Immersion begins with Kindergarten, and English as a subject is taught in Grade Three and subsequent years. The administration and staff welcomes you and your involvement. In addition to the classroom teachers, general music, band and strings teachers, support staff and administration, our school-based team of professionals includes two Learning Assistance teachers, a counsellor, a CRD nurse, a speech therapist, an occupational therapist and a physiotherapist. The latter two are involved on a needs basis. Parents are partners in education. Parents are involved in the school in many ways including volunteering on many committees. These committees may examine and evaluate present policies and set direction for change. When appropriate, our intermediate students are also part of our consultative process. Some important reminders for the start of any school year:
  • Let your children know the great importance you place in education.
  • Assist your children in establishing a place to work and a regular time to do daily study.
  • Assist them to get organized for school the night before so the morning is not stressful.
  • Spend time talking to children about how their day went.
  • Encourage them by telling them that learning is a life-long activity.
  • We look forward to working with you and your family throughout the school year. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us at the school office.
