| The
3rd year was a charm for Glanford Middle School as we strove for
excellence and made the exceptional common. We held the Grand Opening
for our New Studio 85 in April. We released our first CD - Shades
of GMS - featuring our entire music program, in December and our
various bands received the highest grades at their festivals late
in the year. Also in December our first major dramatic production
- Charles Dickens 'A Christmas Carol' - was staged.
Our social conscience grew as we raised money to assist with families
and education in Africa and cancer research and treatment in Canada.
Once again we donated mountains of food to local food banks in December.
Retro-Assemblies,
PJ's & Pancakes, a full slate of Sports Teams, Vern & Vurn,
the Golden Boot and Cabaret & Patisserie Night continued to
be a few of the important parts of the everyday culture at GMS.
As
the year ended and we said good-bye to our first 3-year GMS Class
we also said good-bye to two of our favourite teachers. Mrs. James
(Ms. Brown) and Mrs. Paul, who were part of our original Middle
School Team, left for other positions in the district. Their contributions
and their presence will be missed.
As
we looked forward to our 4th year we knew that we would reach our
capacity of 14 Advisory Classes and we looked forward to the challenge
of keeping our school the friendly, welcoming, inclusive place that
we were so proud of.

If
it happened at GMS in 2006-2007 then we tried to capture it in
PICTURES or VIDEO.

excuses for Vern & Vurn!

From
Studio 85: This is GMS
Midway
through the year the School Board put forth a request for a report
on our progress toward our school-wide goals in literacy, numeracy
and social responsibility. Naturally
we took this opportunity to try to encapsulate the purpose and the
spirit of GMS; to give the Board a real sense of what agreat place
this is. A
4-minute video, "From Studio 85 at GMS", was the result.
