BRAEFOOT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Kindergarten to Grade Five

Braefoot Elementary School is located adjacent to the semi-rural Blenkinsop Valley. The immediate area consists of predominantly single family homes. A wide range of ethnic backgrounds represent the student population. Our school represents an exceptional K-5 model that encompasses a balanced emphasis on academics, and participation in the fine arts and athletics. This is evidenced by high standings in test scores, high participation levels in physical activities and whole school involvement in a wide variety of drama, music, and visual arts programmes. Braefoot School has a highly experienced staff, many of whom have a long history with the school.

The Braefoot parent population has high expectations regarding the quality of education and range of academic and extra-curricular opportunities available to their children. The school is supported by a dedicated Parent Advisory Council. There are a large number of enthusiastic parent volunteers who support the classroom teacher with activities, in and out of the classroom. The Braefoot PAC provides many opportunities that promote a close-knit school community.

Braefoot School has cultivated a close working relationship with the Faculty of Education at the University of Victoria. We are an on-going participant in the SITE (School Integrated Teacher Education) project, focusing on Physical Education and Language Arts. Our school welcomes the energy and opportunities for learning that our student teachers bring to several of our classes each year.

Braefoot Elementary School provides a strong academic program and a positive, enthusiastic learning environment. The classroom doors are always open, and parents are encouraged to take part in their children’s learning.
