While exploring the Arctic on board the icebreaker, CCGS Sir Wilfrid Laurier, one begins to understand the signficant role that the Canadian Coast Guard plays in these isolated communities of the North.
As the Coast Guard ships' crews travel the Arctic coastline of Canada, a variety of jobs and duties are performed. These tasks include search and rescue, navigational aid maintenance, fisheries patrol and scientific research. To learn more about educational opportunities with the Canadian Coast Guard check out the training programs available at the Coast Guard College. The college, established in 1965, is now one of the most modern marine colleges in the world offering diverse educational programs in officer training and certification. |
