ANED provides a variety of courses / programs / services to meet specific needs,
as well as strengthen cultural and individual identities and provide academic support
for Aboriginal students.
ANSDP offers Aboriginal students culturally-attuned assistance to succeed academically.
ANSDP teachers, aided by Aboriginal Education Assistants, assess student needs,
modify and culturally enrich materials for students and classes. ANSDP rooms also
function as resource centres for all students to learn more about Aboriginal cultures
in Canada.
The Aboriginal Nations Kindergarten teachers and Aboriginal Education Assistants
provide a positive, nurturing environment for Aboriginal students in two locations.
Elders, parents and community members are involved in the program to encourage learning
based on the culture, heritage and history of Aboriginal people. This is a full-day
kindergarten program that also provides opportunities for all students to be involved
in the cross-cultural activities.
These courses provide all students with a systematic, balanced view of events and
issues in North America from pre-contact to contemporary Canada.
Aboriginal Counselors provide an essential support to our Aboriginal students in
meeting their individual academic, social and cultural needs in the learning environment.
These counseling services are available to all Aboriginal students in the District
on either a regular or a referral basis.
