The Canadian Coast Guard, in an effort to connect children across the nation, is supporting teachers as they explore the vastness of the Arctic. A beautiful region of Canada, the Arctic offers a rich heritage, unique environmental qualities, awe-inspiring vistas, and people of strength and character.

The United Nations has declared 2007 - 2008 "International Polar Year". We, as educators, have an important role to develop a heightened awareness, and foster a greater understanding, of this northern extremity of our country. The intention of this program is to develop reciprocal relationships between the children of all regions of Canada.
